What Types Of Heaters Are Available?
We offer electric, natural gas and propane infrared radiant heaters in permanent mount and portable options exclusively from IR Energy.
How Do Infrared Heaters Work?
Heating the air is a losing proposition outdoors; instead, infrared light radiates from the heater, which heats surfaces in its path, including you. These surfaces then, in turn, radiate secondary heat.
Can You Mount Heaters Indoors?
You can install electric heaters in certain residential indoor areas. You can also install vented and non-vented gas heaters in commercial indoor settings. Check national and local codes for your region to verify.
Does The Wind Affect Infrared Heaters?
Wind cannot move infrared light waves, so wind does not affect them in that sense. The wind can affect gas heaters by causing “flame lift off” on direct radiant and open flame heaters. Also, wind generally does not affect tube or electric heaters. The wind will, however, act to cool any surface it contacts. By following proper installation and layout procedures, you can counteract this.
Which Is Better, Gas or Electric?
That would depend on your needs and budget. Gas is far more economical to operate, but for a small residential patio, electric might be the better option since it is usually cheaper to run electricity than gas. For larger projects, gas has the advantage; electric heaters are a resistive circuit, consuming large amounts of power. Eight 240-volt 6000-watt heaters would require a 200-amp service to operate.
Can You Install Gas Heaters on Wooden Structures?
Yes, as long as the required distance to combustibles is met.
